ICYMI: NAMA CTW 2018

Newco in New Orleans

Every year the National Automatic Merchandising Association, aka NAMA, put’s on the world’s largest Coffee Services Event. NAMA CTW (Coffee, Tea, and Water) Show features new technologies and industry trends that impacts the coffee services industry. The event offers the opportunity to network with industry colleagues and sit in on the many education sessions that are offered, one of which our CFO, Karen Webster participated as a panel member.

All this and more NAMA offered in one of the most historical coffee cities in the country – New Orleans.

In other words how could we say no? So on November 12th our Newco team packed their bags and headed to the city of jazz and chicory coffee for the NAMA CTW Show. Sharing our experiences of the event on our social media pages.

NAMA Foundation Coffee Crawl

For the first time NAMA hosted a coffee crawl. Led by professional historians, this one-of-a-kind guided tour of the famous New Orleans French Quarter immersed the crawlers in New Orleans rich coffee history.

On this coffee journey we had the opportunity to meet up with a Newco friend and a local New Orleanian, Sue Singer who bestowed on us her local knowledge of New Orleans.

The Coffee Crawl started off with our Newco team and Sue hopping on a street car heading for the French Quarter. The first stop was Café du Monde, one of the first coffee shops in New Orleans, famous for its chicory coffee and beignets. After receiving some coffee and Sue blowing powder sugar from her beignet on a stranger we continued our tour, walking down the lively streets. Our next stop was Envie Espresso Bar and Café. Where we tried a southern pecan hot coffee… divine! Last stop was at CC’s Coffee House where we enjoyed an iced coffee drink that was refreshing after spending the day walking in humid weather.

NAMA Show Floor

On the second day of the NAMA CTW Show the trade show floor opened where we had the opportunity to display some of our popular machines at Booth #900. The Newco team spent the day meeting new people, greeting friends, and showing off our brewers to anyone who stopped by. Speaking of people who stopped by, thank you Sue and Harold Singer for providing the local King cakes for the booth – they were delicious!

Newco Party and Parade

A party and a parade in New Orleans? Yes please! You can’t go to New Orleans and not have a good time; or what Native New Orleanians say, “Pass a good time!” The evening started off with some great live music, an artisan rolling custom cigars, and an open bar. As the night went on everyone grabbed their beads, hankies, and umbrellas and paraded down the streets of New Orleans.  A big thank you to our co-party hosts for sponsoring this event: G&J Marketing365 Retail Markets, & Lightspeed Automation.
